Any home/residence benefits from a hard water (potable) drinking water tap. The Water board certainly think so.

People on low sodium diets would be wise to consult their doctor.
Don't use it to make baby feeds.
The amount of salt (sodium) needs to be put into perspective. You would need to drink 5 glasses of softened water to ingest the same amount of sodium as in 1 glass of milk!
It stops the scum appearing on your morning cuppa.
There are very few reasons not to drink softened water. It normally boils down to taste, and that's personal to each of us.
